Uncontrolled mass tourism continues to contribute to the degradation of natural & cultural significance (commercialization of Culture) thus leading or causing loss of biological and cultural biodiversity, and important sources of income. Nature based tourism offers a way of financing unique ecosystems preservation. This provides opportunity for the community living near the protected areas to benefit economically e.g. employment opportunity. But Nature based tourism & travel while sustaining eco-system also degrades them. Much nature based tourism falls short of social responsibility to the local community.

Sustainable tourism is developed and managed in such a way that all tourism activities will focus on a heritage resource, natural and cultural which can be continued imminently and every effort is made to maintain the resource to perpetuity.

The Word “World” Means Unity in Diversity

We have had enough of isolation in desperation. We must now be craving for collaboration despite differences in opinion, ideology, and what not. So much time has been wasted with indifference, it is now high time we had to give unity a chance for the benefit of all respectable peoples of the world.

Competition in the various field, say, economics, politics, business, academics, and the like–these can only hinder the chance of living together in harmony. Sans the varied hindrances, we will be able to really co-exist despite the differences we have. In fact, with the song composed by John Lennon ” Imagine ” we could really exist sans animosity to each other, due to our narrow mindedness, self-preservation, and the like.

Survival of the fittest should be a thing of the past, be out of our system, and try to internalize: all are fit to survive through everybody’s help. Start helping yourself help others find their true self and the power is tremendous!

Just like, one time, I had a meaningful session with my learners in SEAGG (Speak English and Go Global) class. SEAGG is one of my baby projects aiming to make a small difference to the lives of new graduates who wish to get a feel of speaking the language and the like for job interviews, communication needs, etc.

There was this game “Who Must be Eliminated?” Sort of putting my learners in a dilemma and a way of finding their biases and prejudices as well.

The Problem: Because of impending third world war, super intelligent people decided to put up a new community in the outer space; they chose the best– in genes and all– to be the modern Adam and Eve and start a new race. Together with other community workers such as engineer, scientist, doctor, nurse, teacher, entertainer, etc, they were sent to their space voyage, and while they were in plight, their space craft encountered machine trouble and the captain told them to eliminate one if they would like to continue and arrive safe. Who among them must be eliminated? Each one gave his best defense against other choice’s but of course they had to give reasons for eliminating one. Till, they all decided that the one who should be eliminated was the entertainer for she was the least valuable when it comes to skills and the like. Of course, poor entertainer would defend herself, and things like that.

Real Solution: nobody should be eliminated. Each of them was equally important, no matter how lowly one was to them. And one best thing to do here is make do with what skills, say, the scientist and engineers could fix the problem–anyway they were all experts in their field, remember?–Eliminating someone is the easiest thing to do. Instead of thinking and arguing who would be eliminated, –which is the easiest thing to do– why not look for the best solution meant to solve the problem without sacrificing someone just to survive or what not. Here, we could get the message that people have biases and prejudices–in kinds and degrees of course.

And these biases and prejudices set us all far apart. We need to break free from this in order to live in harmony with one another and let all– no matter what their uniqueness are, etc.– exist as our equals. Yes, look at all the things around… they are excitingly unique, different and all, but they are in harmony with nature. There is always beauty in seeing co-existence despite each one’s individuality. See the fingers in your right hand? Each one of them is needed to have a complete set.

Find now the key to such panacea to all our concerns. We should not be just imagining of living in harmony; we should be experiencing it by now.

The Family Unit – The Effects of the World Today

“Families are the basic building blocks of humanity. The family unit is still a family unit whether its members are twelve or two. Family unity is developed and displayed in a variety of ways and in many different settings, meaning family unity is a family being together in happy and peaceful. Today, families are under constant stress, being pushed and pulled from many directions, often without the support systems of extended families that may have existed in the past.

Unity:

Unity is a modern day family play that blends drama and comedy that depicts real life family issues and the significance of spiritual values. This so called unity is an essential strength of healthy families, particularly in times of crises and tragedies. The faith community in particular is very distressed that families are separated due to our inequitable immigration policies. Family unity should be a whole world value. To help ensure that families are not separated is the most economically viable solution. As the fundamental unit of society, the family is entitled to respect, protection, assistance, and support.

Members:

Family unity is important, but if a member or members are illegal or undocumented, they may need to suffer the consequences. Family unity can also have a more specific meaning relating to constraints on state discretion to separate an existing intact family through the expulsion of one of its members. In contrast, family reunification, or reunion, refers to the efforts of family members already separated by forced or voluntary migration to regroup in a country other than their country of origin, and so implicates state discretion over admission. Cross-border family unity issues arise most frequently when a host state either moves to deport a non-citizen family member, or denies entry to an individual seeking to join family members already residing in the state.

The harsh reality of this is…That the immigration status of the various family members has an impact on how the right to family unity should be implemented. Family unity in the refugee context means granting refugee or a similar secure status to family members accompanying a recognized refugee. The country of asylum must likewise provide for family reunification, at least of close family members, since the refugee cannot by definition return to the country of origin to enjoy reunification there.

Working:

Working families feel anxious about their future because they can distinguish between the economic realities they are facing and the economic myths our President is trying to sell them. In today’s world the family unit is dissolving rapidly sometimes due to both parents working and a parent working shift work; so smart parents make the time to do activities together as a family. The hard-working, responsible cousins, uncles and half-sisters who raised my grandparents and helped raise other family members would have been strangers to us.

Children from working poor families were compared with those from nonworking poor families earning less than 200 percent of the federal poverty level, or $35,300 for a family of four. Some researchers found that children in working poor families were more likely to be Latino, undocumented and to reside in rural areas. However, on a wider scale, millions of people are working part-time for economic reasons because they cannot find the full-time jobs they want.

My Final Thoughts:

“If family unity is to be a priority, there must be sacrifice and commitment! The family unit is critical to the development and success of our young people.” A family is kind of a organic unit; when one part of it dies, the entire infrastructure teeters and can, or could collapse. Families are ever changing in today’s society, and these families are what you make them and the ultimate connecting factor is love. The extended family unity is slowly fading away, leaving thousands of children homeless and having to fend for themselves. The anxiety that working families feel is borne out by a realistic assessment of the economic situation and by a realization that policymakers have done little to help them. In the real world, families are not always a haven, since they, too, can be filled with conflict.
